The Honeycomb (HC) design system is facing adoption challenges across multiple teams at the company. From talkback sessions with engineering and design teams, we identified 20 major pain points, each distilled into five words or fewer to provide a clear picture of the barriers preventing successful implementation. This case study walks through some of the pain points including preparing for a brand refresh by remapping multiple color and typography systems to one unified set of design tokens, acquiring resources with roadshow presentations to leadership, pattern templates documentation and education, and moral boosting with merch and recognition.
